2025 Update Report: Living Wage and Living Income Report for Rural Roi Et and Rural Nakhon Phanom, Thailand
Abstract
This report provides updated estimates of family living expenses and living wages for rural areas in the provinces of Roi Et and Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, where tobacco and rice are grown. Since there was virtually no inflation and no changes in payroll deductions between the original Anker living wage study conducted in December 2024 (Kulkolkarn and Delajara, 2024) and June 2025, no adjustment for inflation or taxes was necessary. However, the appreciation of the Thai baht has resulted in changes to the living income and living wage when expressed in US.

2024 Benchmark Report: Living Income Report (With Living Wage Annex) for Rural Roi Et and Rural Nakhon Phanom, Thailand
Abstract
This report estimates the living income for typical rural families in Roi Et and Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, where tobacco and rice are cultivated. Using the Anker Methodology®, the living income as of December 2024 is THB 17,316 (USD 489) for Roi Et and THB 16,939 (USD 478) for Nakhon Phanom. A rural living wage is also calculated: THB 10,298 (USD 291) and THB 10,130 (USD 286), respectively. Given the small difference between regions (2.2%), we recommend using the slightly higher estimates for Roi Et for both provinces as a unified benchmark to simplify implementation while ensuring adequacy and inclusiveness.
