The gold standard for living wage and living income research
The Anker Research Institute conducts rigorous research on living wages and living incomes around the world based on the Anker Methodology®. This methodology analyzes people’s needs with detailed research on decent living costs particularly the cost of nutritious food, healthy housing, adequate health care, and children’s education. This rigorous locally adapted research and estimates sets the Anker Research Institute apart from other organizations estimating living wages and living incomes and this research and these estimates are widely recognized as the gold standard for measuring living wage and living income.
What are the differences between our studies
There are three types of studies that enable the Anker Research Institute to make internationally comparable living wage and living income estimates for countries and locations around the world: Anker Benchmark Studies, and Anker Sub-National Benchmark Studies, and Anker Reference Value Studies. All three use the Anker Methodology®. The main difference between traditional Anker Benchmark studies and Anker Sub-National Benchmark studies is the degree to which primary data are used. Traditional Anker Benchmark Studies always include primary data collection. Sub-National Studies usually rely exclusively on secondary data sources; however, they sometimes collect primary data to check on the accuracy of the secondary data. Reference Value studies rely exclusively on secondary sources.
