CHINA - LIVING WAGE
This report estimates a living wage for Hangzhou, P. R. China. Our estimate of a living wage for a full-time worker in Hangzhou, China, for September 2024 is 4,824 CNY (678 USD) per month. The net living wage (i.e., take-home pay after taxes and other mandatory payroll deductions) is 4,319 CNY (607 USD) per month. This is based on our estimate of living costs for a typical-size reference family for the study location, consisting of 2 adults and 1.5 children, with 1.74 full-time equivalent adult workers contributing to family income.
This report estimates a living wage for Shenzhen, P. R. China. Our estimate of a living wage for a full-time worker in Shenzhen, China, for November 2024 is 4,401 CNY (615 USD) per month. The net living wage (i.e., take-home pay after taxes and other mandatory payroll deductions) is 4,005 CNY (559 USD) per month. This is based on our estimate of living costs for a typical-size reference family for the study location, consisting of 2 adults and 1.5 children, with 1.74 full-time equivalent adult workers contributing to family income.
This report estimates a living wage for Ningbo, P. R. China. It uses the Anker Methodology®, whereby secondary data from high-quality national surveys are combined with primary data collected in new fieldwork to estimate how much a worker needs to earn to afford a decent standard of living for themselves and their family. Elements of a decent standard of living include food, water, housing, education, health care, transportation, clothing, foot wear, recreation, communication, and all other needs, including provision for unexpected events. The Anker Methodology® has been used by the Anker Research Institute to estimate internationally comparable living wages and living incomes in over 50 countries.
