2025 Reference Value Update Report: Living Income Report for Rural Democratic Republic of Congo

Abstract

This report updates the Anker Living Income Reference Value for rural areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to reflect price inflation since the original 2021 report. In 2021, the estimated living income for rural DRC was CDF 380,033 (USD 193) per month. Between mid-2021 and mid-2025, cumulative inflation reached 67.7%. Without adjusting for inflation, the 2021 estimate would no longer provide a basic yet decent standard of living in 2025 due to reduced purchasing power. Accordingly, the updated living income for 2025 in rural DRC is CDF 637,141 (USD 219) per month.
