Reference Value Report: Living Wage and 2025 Update for Rural Honduras

This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for rural Honduras to 2025. In the original 2020 report, the living wage was HNL 6,852 (USD 277), consisting of a net living wage of HNL 6,304 (USD 255) and social security contributions of HNL 548 (USD 22). The cumulative inflation rate between June 2020 and June 2025 was 33.7%. Without adjusting for inflation, the 2020 living wage would no longer be sufficient for families to achieve a basic but decent standard of living in 2025, due to the erosion of purchasing power. The updated gross living wage for 2025 is HNL 8,736 (USD 335) per month, comprising a net living wage of HNL 8,430 (USD 323) and social security contributions of HNL 306 (USD 12). Social security contributions were calculated using the most up-to-date legislation. The deduction consists mainly of a 3.5% contribution to social security. Contributions to the social housing fund are now optional and therefore not included in the payroll deduction calculation.
