2025 Reference Value Update Report: Living Wage Report for Rural Morocco
Abstract
This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for rural Morocco to 2025, based on cumulative inflation of 17.3% since the original report in 2020. The original estimate was MAD 2,249 (USD 233) per month, comprised of a net living wage of MAD 2,097 (USD 217) plus a social security contribution of MAD 152 (USD 16).The updated gross living wage for 2025 is MAD 2,637 (USD 292) per month, consisting of a net living wage of MAD 2,459 (USD 273) and MAD 178 (USD 20) in mandatory social security contributions. Mandatory deductions were calculated using the most up-to-date tax laws.

2020 Reference Value Report: Living Wage Report for Rural Morocco
Abstract
The Anker Living Wage Reference Value for 2020 for rural Morocco is MAD 2,249 per month (USD 233)with a 95% confidence interval around it from MAD 2,083 to MAD 2,428. This is the estimated monthly wage a worker needs to be able to afford a basic but decent standard of living for a typical size family in rural Morocco in 2020. It consists of a net living wage (i.e. take-home pay) of MAD 2,097 plus MAD 152 in mandatory payroll deductions for social benefits (4.48%) and health insurance (2.26%) since income tax would not need to be paid on the rural living wage.
