Reference Value Report: Living Wage and 2025 Update for Urban Sri Lanka

This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for urban Sri Lanka to June 2025. In the original report, the value was LKR 84,231 (USD 259) in April 2022, comprised of a net living wage of LKR 77,492 (USD 238) plus a social security contribution of LKR 6,737 (USD 21). Inflation between April 2022 and June 2025 was 36.9%. Accordingly, the Anker Gross Living Wage for June 2025 is LKR 115,291 (USD 385) per month, comprised of a net living wage of LKR 106,068 (USD 354) plus a social security contribution of LKR 9,223 (USD 31). However, because there was deflation of 0.6% between June 2024 and June 2025, the living wage in local currency is slightly lower in 2025 compared to 2024. The equivalent USD values are slightly higher, however, because the Sri Lankan Rupee appreciated against the USD by mid-2025. Social security contributions were calculated based on laws in force in 2025.
