The country average Living Wage for rural areas is CFA 135,729 (USD 239) per month, composed of a Net Living Wage of CFA 118,332 (USD 208) and CFA 17,398 (USD 31) in mandatory deductions for social security, housing fund, and income tax. Due to regional disparities, this average is likely too low for relatively wealthier regions. Therefore, the upper confidence bound of the Living Wage Reference Value—CFA 148,448 (USD 261)—is recommended for banana-producing areas in the West, Southwest, and Littoral (excluding Douala).

This report updates the Anker Living Income Reference Value for rural Cameroon to 2025. This was CFA 155,746 (USD 269) for 2020 in the original report. The updated Anker Living Income for 2025 is CFA 196,642 (USD 346) per month. The updated value takes into account the cumulative inflation during this period, which was 26.3%. Without accounting for inflation, the Living Income estimated in 2020 would not be sufficient for families to have a basic but decent standard of living in 2025, because the purchasing power of the Living Income would have decreased.
