2025 Reference Value Update Report: Living Wage Report for Rural El Salvador
Abstract
This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for rural El Salvador to 2025. In the original 2020 report, the living wage was estimated at USD 355, consisting of a net living wage of USD 318 and mandatory deductions of USD 36. The updated value reflects the cumulative inflation rate of 16.2% between June 2020 and June 2025. The 2025 gross living wage is USD 412 per month, comprising a net living wage of USD 370 and social security contributions of USD 42. It is worth noting that point-to-point annual inflation in June 2025 was -0.17%, indicating that the general price level remained virtually unchanged over the past year. This stability is reflected in the essentially unchanged living wage values during this period.

2020 Reference Value Report: Living Wage Report for Rural El Salvador
Abstract
The Anker Living Wage Reference Value for 2020 for rural El Salvador is USD 355 (SVC 3,136) per month with a 95% confidence around it from USD 326 to USD 386 (SVC 2,883 to SVC 3,412). This is the wage required for rural workers to be able to afford a basic but decent living standard in a typical rural area of El Salvador. The Reference Value is comprised of a net living wage (i.e. take-home pay) of USD 318 (SVC 2,815) per month plus an estimated USD 36 (SVC 321) which would need to be paid by law as contribution to State Welfare Fund and in private pension on the living wage (LW).
