This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for urban Egypt to 2025. In the original report, the value for 2024 was EGP 12,448 (USD 266) per month. The updated Anker Living Wage for 2025 is EGP 14,624 (USD 292) per month, consisting of a Net Living Wage of EGP 11,483 (USD 229) and EGP 3,141 (USD 63) for mandatory social security contributions and income tax. This update reflects cumulative inflation of 14.4% between June 2024 and June 2025. Mandatory deductions were calculated using the most current tax regulations. Without adjusting for inflation, the 2024 estimate would not provide workers and their families with a basic but decent standard of living in 2025, as its purchasing power would have declined.

The updated Anker Living Wage for 2025 is EGP 10,884 (USD 217) per month, consisting of a Net Living Wage of EGP 8,850 (USD 177) and EGP 2,034 (USD 41) for mandatory social security contributions, health insurance, and income tax. This update reflects cumulative inflation of 140.1% between June 2020 and June 2025. Mandatory deductions were calculated using the most current tax regulations. Without adjusting for inflation, the 2020 estimate would not provide workers and their families with a basic but decent standard of living in 2025, as its purchasing power would have decline.
