2025 Reference Value Update Report: Living Wage Report for Rural Egypt
Abstract
This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for rural Egypt to 2025. The updated Anker Living Wage consists of a Net Living Wage and mandatory social security contributions, health insurance, and income tax. This update reflects cumulative inflation of 140.1% between June 2020 and June 2025. Mandatory deductions were calculated using the most current tax regulations. Without adjusting for inflation, the original estimate would not provide workers and their families with a basic but decent standard of living today, as its purchasing power would have declined.

2020 Reference Value Report: Living Wage Report for Rural Egypt
Abstract
The Anker Living Wage Reference Value for rural Egypt reflects the wage required for workers to afford a basic but decent living standard in a typical rural area of the country, based on 2020 estimates. This figure incorporates a 95% confidence interval, reflecting the level of certainty in the estimate. The Reference Value comprises a net living wage—i.e., take-home pay—plus an additional amount in taxes and social security which would be payable as the living wage.
